We run fun sessions for toddlers and their mums / carers / grannies in the St Mary’s church hall on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.45am until 11.15am in term time.
These are wonderful groups! There are families with toddlers who come from many countries including Ukraine, Spain, Russia and India. In recent years, dads and grandads have come along too, and the groups really reflect the social and national diversity of Maidenhead.
The helpers put out the toys, supervise the craft table (there is a special team who cut out interesting craft activities), lead singing, and tell a short Bible story related to the craft. There are also helpers to serve tea and coffee, squash and biscuits.
It is fascinating talking to the mums and carers, and the helpers can be a listening ear to those who may be tired or struggling with parenthood. It is a privilege to pour out God’s love to the people of Maidenhead.
Jesus said that the harvest is great, but the workers are few – and we feel this in our toddler groups.
More helpers would be great – more cups of coffee, more ears, more learning through play and songs (nursery rhymes), more sharing, more socialising, more inclusion and more demonstration of God’s love outpoured. We would love more of the people in Maidenhead to be welcomed into our church.
