Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford was the setting for the ordination of Simon Eves and Tim Adams as Deacons in the Church of England on 28th September 2024.
Both Simon and Tim had served at St Mary’s for several years – Simon as a Ministry Trainee then the Minister for Youth at St Mary’s; Tim as a Ministry Trainee and then the 6.30pm Congregation Leader. Both left St Mary’s in Summer 2021 to train for ministry at Oak Hill Theological College.
Both have started curacies, Simon at St Nicolas’s, Newbury and Tim at St John’s, Burford.
Bishop Graham Tomlin presided over the ordination.
Family and friends gathered to witness Simon, Tim and the other ordinands each declare that ‘by the grace of God, to give yourself wholly to his service, that you may draw his people into that new life which God has prepared for those who love him.’
Afterwards families and friends had a picnic on Christ Church Meadow to celebrate and mark the day.
