At the 9.15am service yesterday, Lindsay Reisser-Weston interviewed James Taylor about the Christian Foundations course to find out what the course is about and how he has found it.

Lindsay: James, describe what happens on a typical evening at Christian Foundations?

James: We meet every Monday at 7:30pm and start by sharing a meal. We then study a different topic each week around the term’s theme – most recently this was ‘Growing our relationship with God’.

We read passages from the Bible relevant to the topic and then discuss the passages, and ask questions – any questions – we may have.

At the end of the evening, we ask what each of us would like to pray for around the table – some of us pray out loud whilst some prefer to listen and there is no requirement to pray out loud if you don’t want to.

We usually finish at 9:30pm.

Lindsay: What do you most enjoy about Christian Foundations?

James: I love the unity and fellowship of the group. The people are diverse in age and background and the great thing is that no matter how long you have been a Christian, you can learn and help to grow your faith and relationship with God.

I have found that the format really helps me to understand what it means to be a Christian and that each of the subjects has helped to strengthen my faith. I have become more enthusiastic with every evening!

Oh, and the food is great as well!

Lindsay: Thanks James!
