Jo heads up a team for SIL (Wycliffe Bible Translators) and updated us on some of her recent work and her thinking, at the recent St Mary’s Evening.

Jo has been looking into, writing and speaking about creating media in an artificial intelligence (AI) world. This first started with an internal article for SIL, but led to a presentation at the Forum of Bible Agencies International. The Forum is an alliance of more than 25 international Bible agencies and other missions organisations working in over 120 countries. It also provides standards for Bible translation and opportunities for the collaboration of Bible agencies in many different countries

The opportunity has also arisen to employ a media group for work in Tanzania.  Jo is considering the next steps which involve listening to those in the country to partner in faith, looking for funding for this work and identifying who to employ.

There is also the potential to build a recording studio in Dallas. This will not only be a resource for the SIL team, but for other organisations too. It will also provide income for the SIL work.

Jo’s prayer points were

  • For wisdom in her and SIL’s work as to the best way to use the tool of AI
  • To find the right people for the media team in Tanzania and for funding for their wages to be found
  • That the building of the recording studio in Dallas would go smoothly and that it would be a blessing to many
