I had the joy of going on the 6.30pm Fellowship Weekend Away at the Rock UK Frontier Centre and I have come away with many things, to note a few:

First of all, we all left with a full belly. We were blessed with delicious food, planned and organised by some of the kind members of our congregation. The joy of cooking together, eating together and washing and clearing up was a real answer to prayer and a beautiful picture of brothers and sisters working together as part of Christ’s body.

Next, we left with a full heart. Albeit a short time, it was packed with activities such as walking, kayaking, cycling and croquet. Even in the ‘in between times’ there was crafting and board games and lots of both deep and light and fun chats. A highlight was an epic campfire, which wouldn’t have been complete without marshmallows and a singsong! There was even some sunrise running and lake swimming….

Lastly, and most importantly, we left with full confidence in Jesus. Our speaker Joe, came with an age old yet fresh perspective of how the Bible helps us approach work, rest and play. We can often find work tiring and rest not particularly restful. How gave us three fantastic sessions, which were paired with joyous praise and heartfelt prayer. My favourite was on Sunday morning, where we got to hear from two of our own, Hyeonbin and Tommy, and the story of how they came to Christ. This was such an encouragement and a reminder of God’s faithfulness.

This is the truth I want to remember: If we approach rest as what we first need, in order to work for the Lord, it can help us to remember that we don’t earn our salvation, instead we rest in what Christ did for us already on the cross.

I would highly encourage asking someone who was there for the helpful checklists and tips Joe gave us to help you live with Jesus as your Lord in all those areas.
