Dream Small by Seth Lewis
You are here for a purpose. You were carefully crafted with a perfect plan in mind. You are a character in the greatest story ever told, and your life, and your actions, and your decisions, even today, can send shockwaves into eternity. Maybe the role God has for you is big and public. Maybe it is quiet, behind the scenes, where hardly anyone will notice. Don’t worry about that. You can invest in loving God and loving the people he loves from wherever you are, and the best ways to do that have always been the closest, most ordinary, overlooked and under-appreciated ways, like humble service to humble people, and time spent with God, and all the little ways we can remind each other of God’s truth and God’s love and the big story he made us to be part of. To quote a reviewer – ‘If you have ever wondered, “am I getting this life right?” – this book is for you.’

Trail Blazer Heroines/Heroes by Catherine Mackenzie
When I was seven, I received my first Catherine MacKenzie story book: ‘Are all of the watches safe?’ and I was captivated by the story of Corrie ten Boom and her faith as she hid Jewish refugees from the Nazis during World War II. Over the following years, I increased my collection of books in the series and I loved reading about men and women of the faith who trusted God through different experiences, and seeing how God can use ordinary people for his purposes. I even used MacKenzie’s book on Helen Roseveare ‘What’s in the parcel?’ as the basis for last Sunday’s Family Focus! If your children enjoyed hearing Helen’s extraordinary story of God’s provision, I’m sure they’d love to read about more examples of Christians throughout history who God has worked through, just as I did.
