Dear St Mary’s friends,
Thanks very much for your prayers. In September I started as the vicar of Holy Trinity, which we refer to as Trinity Church Henley. This has involved the structural, financial and ministry integration of Trinity at Four, the congregation we planted here in Henley six years ago, into the main church. It’s an exciting, if demanding, time for us!
- Our vision is to be one church family rooted in Jesus and fruitful for him. Please pray that God would graciously enable us to live this out.
- Pray for the 10am service I have inherited, which is small (20ish), and generally elderly. A catalyst group from the 4pm are joining the 10am after Easter. Pray God would use this to establish a children’s ministry, and bring about changes that will facilitate growth.
- Praise God for continued growth in our 4pm congregation (usually about 75 adults and 50 kids). Pray for us as we return to the Trinity church building after Easter, and for some of the logistical challenges that will present.
- We have recently launched a set of plans (‘Room for Growth’) to redevelop our church building. It’s in desperate need. Pray for God’s provision, and for wisdom in knowing what we should aim for with regards scope and timing.
- Praise God for 12 adults/teenagers who were baptised and/or confirmed last Sunday. Pray for many more!
- The last nine months have been a whirlwind of change for me, the family, and the church. We know that God has called us here, and we’re excited to see the work God is doing. Please pray that God would sustain us all.
- The family are all well. The day I’m writing this update is Esther’s third birthday! This will mark the first time in about 10 years we’ve not had a 1-2 year old! Please pray for our kids to be grounded and established in Christ’s love: Amelie (9), JoJo (7), Barney (4), Esther (3).
Much love,
Sam
