The 4pm picnic has now become an annual event. Fortunately, this year we had dry weather but there was an autumnal feel to the air. Some people remained in summer attire while others wore warm coats and thick jumpers. Some sat on mats or rugs while others had more comfortable chairs.

The group started small but soon grew. People of all ages gathered. The children had a lovely playground to play in while the adults enjoyed some homemade butterfly cakes. Croquet was introduced after the first hour and cricket also featured.

A few dogs joined the party with Bertie McCrabbe wining the prize for barking the most, but a doggy ice cream kept him quiet for about two minutes!

There was a little tuck shop for those who wanted good value tea, slushies or ice cream.

It was a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy good conversation and to catch up on summer news. It allowed time for longer conversations than is usually possible after church. Often it is easier to talk in the open air than in an enclosed space.

We will definitely be back next year!
