“One of the most loving things you can do for someone…”

How would you complete that sentence? Simon Edwards is an ex-lawyer, author, speaker for the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics and a church pastor. He will be speaking at the Everyday Evangelism day conference which is being hosted at St Mary’s on 22nd June. In the trailer video for the conference he says, “one of the most loving things you can do for someone is to introduce them to Jesus.” Simon acknowledges that many of us find that difficult – I know that it gives rise to feelings of guilt and inadequacy in some of us.

Whether you are terrified of the idea of evangelism or love it, I hope that the Everyday Evangelism day conference will be a day during which you are encouraged and equipped. We have some excellent speakers, in addition to Simon, who will be encouraging us in our personal evangelism; we have Matthew and Anna Price who will be talking about evangelism with our church family, and Nay Dawson who will be speaking on evangelism in our neighbourhoods. There will be a time of worship, testimony, sharing ideas with others, as well as enjoying one another’s company over coffee / lunch – the programme is available on the St Mary’s Maidenhead website. You can watch of the trailer video here and book to come via the St Mary’s website here.

The apostle Paul writes: “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:14-15). Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our non-Christian friends, relatives or colleagues came to believe having heard the gospel through us or through something we have been a part of with our church family? As Paul writes, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
