Happy New Year!
Each year at St Mary’s, we have a Verse of the Year. The idea is to help us all remember a key truth about the God we worship.
Why not pop the card on your fridge, or download the image to use as a screensaver?
This year’s verse comes from Psalm 95, which was traditionally read out every morning in Church of England services. Previous generations of Christians in Maidenhead would have been very familiar with it!
The psalm begins with three wonderful reasons for our hearts to rejoice in God. He is our Saviour, our Sustainer, and our Shepherd. We see these aspects of God revealed most fully in the person of Jesus. The psalm ends with a warning for believers to heed: ‘Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart.’
Whatever joys or sorrows you are facing in 2024, may your heart rejoice in the Lord your Maker, who cares for His flock.
