On Tuesday 28th November St Mary’s was transformed by Debra, Rachel and their team. Each table was beautifully decorated with a gingerbread house kit at each place setting. Trays of warm mulled wine and tasty treats were circulated throughout the evening. After a welcome and brief introduction, we were set free to construct our gingerbread houses.

While the houses were ‘setting’ we listened as Debra interviewed A who attends St Mary’s and had just that week been granted permanent asylum in the UK. She spoke bravely of her journey and her faith, none of us could fail to be moved by her testimony.

Rachel then spoke of the true meaning of Christmas, and we were musically entertained by Vic and Heather. We all joined in the rendition of ‘Silent Night’.

The rest of the evening saw us individually decorate our houses with the multitude of sweets provided, finally we took our creations to the team who wrapped each abode in cellophane. Everyone was given a bookmark bearing a Bible verse. Rachel bid everyone goodbye and offered the booklet ‘Christmas in Three Words’ as we left.

It was a truly special evening where faith and fellowship come together. A huge thank you to Debra, Rachel and the team who ensured the event ran seamlessly.
